5. Install an Edge Connect

5. Installing an Edge Connect #

Edge Connect is a video appliance that is used for ingesting and exporting video streams. In Connect iT one ingests data with an Input and exports data with an Output.

For this tutorial specifically we will use the Edge Connect appliance to generate a test stream.

5.1 Installing an Edge Connect #

To install an Edge Connect you need the domain of the Connect iT core system (from the Install Connect iT Core section) and the admin password, much as what is required for a video or thumb appliance. You will also need to decide on a name for the appliance, in this tutorial we will simply call it edge-connect-1.

Appliances belong to a group. This is a way for you to organize your Connect iT system logically.

Appliances can be part of different regions. This is a way for you to organize your Connect iT system for redundancy and to manage a global network. An edge-connect will be assigned to the default region but can be moved to a different region from the network-manager.

sudo ./connectit install edge-connect --url https://<domain> --name edge-connect-1

If you get toomanyrequests errors, try login to Docker Hub.

sudo docker login

5.2 Find the appliance in the Network Manager #

Once the appliance has started it will register itself with the Connect iT core system. It will then be visible under Appliances under Settings.

Navigate to SettingsAppliances and ensure the status of the appliance is green:
